Menston plants a tree to celebrate the 90th birthday of our Queen

One of the local Beaver pack takes his turn to help to plant the tree

A red-twigged lime now stands in Menston Park, organised by Menston in Bloom  to celebrate the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. Following the formal planting by Cllr Dale Smith, the local Beavers pack got stuck in to complete the job.

The ceremony was rounded off by the assembled villagers singing the National Anthem then Happy Birthday. The sun continued to shine as we went home feeling that it was a job well done.

PS. Don’t forget the annual Bambisanani concert at St Mary’s Menston on Friday evening. Always an excellent night with talented local young musicians playing to support an excellent cause. See under ‘Events’.
