Strawberry teas waiting to go at the Menston in Bloom annual event in 2015A quick reminder that this coming Saturday, 4 June, there is Menston in Bloom‘s annual strawberry tea and plant sale. This year they might get some sun after the disastrous weather last year (which didn’t damp the spirits of those attending at all!).

It’s at 23 Park Road, from 2pm to 4pm. Entry is £2.50 (children are free) and includes the strawberry tea. Lots of plants on sale and there’s a cake stall and raffle.

A defibrillator for Menston station

Beth Street, in training for the Leeds 10k and the Great North runBeth Street, well known for the annual summer ball, the Menston Soul Nights and other activities to support rebuilding of schools in the Philippines (this year the ball is on 25 June – see Events), will be attempting the Yorkshire three peaks to raise money for a defibrillator at Menston station. It’s in memory of St Mary’s Menston staff member, Sue Hope, who died at the station earlier this year.

You can support Beth (or join her and others on the three peaks); give her a ring on 0771 978 5986.
